Organon & Co. Director, Scientific Publications - REMOTE in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania

Job Description

The Position

The Publications Director will deliver on all aspects of biomedical publications development, with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end publications development aligned to therapeutic area strategy across the portfolio and pipeline

  • Execute the development of value- and impact-driven publications (abstracts, posters/orals, primary and secondary manuscripts, review articles).

  • Contribute to strategicpublication planning activitiesand tacticsvia active participation inrelevant subcommittees.

  • Vendor oversight and KPI assessments.

Tasks:

  • Develop publication content (abstracts, posters, orals/slides, primary and secondary manuscripts, review articles, enhanced content/publication extenders)for high-complexity and/or high priority projects.

  • Review publication content developed by vendors/junior staff, providing constructive feedback; ensure execution of tactics/monitor timelines.

  • Participate in publication planningmeetings/subcommittees for assigned products/therapy areas, and advise on strategy and tactics.

  • Leadpublication kickoff meetings with internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic and scientific alignment.

  • Train cross-functional colleagues on the publication process and ensure publications are developed per SOP.

Competencies:

  • Understands the current publications landscape and applies this expertiseto develop strategic, value-driven publications for small-molecule, biologic, and device assets from pipeline to market.

  • Establishes credibility as a subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders in development of high-quality publications in compliance with International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations, Good Publication Practice (GPP) standards, journal/congress guidelines, and Organon SOPs and policies.

  • Ability to prioritize to deliver on multiple ongoing projects with the appropriate sense of urgency and sound judgement for issue resolution/escalation.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • A health, life science, or medical science degree (Masters, Doctorate, PharmD, or MD) and fluent in English (written and spoken).

  • Professional certification, preferred.

  • International Society for Medical Publication Professionals Certified Medical Publication Professional (ISMPP CMPP™) credential.

  • American Medical Writer’s Association (AMWA) Medical Writer Certified (MWC®) credential.

  • Demonstrated competency in writing/editing/reviewing/managing complex publications for various audiences across the product lifecycle.

  • Experience advising teams ontarget journal selection/congress identificationand when to leverage enhanced digital content/publication extenders.

  • Understands different study designs and evidence-generation platforms, e.g., RCTs, observational research, real-world evidence (RWE), claims databases, health economics & outcomes research (HEOR).

  • Soft skills to manage internal/external author/stakeholder interactions independently.

  • Experience writing in multiple TAs and aptitude to quickly learn new Therapeutic Areas (TAs).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and publication management software (e.g., Datavision, Veeva Vault).

  • Developing publications/strategic plans across the product lifecycle – pipeline to market access(small molecules/biologics/devices).

  • Eight years relevant biopharmaceutical experience; experience in women’s health desired.

  • Proficient in interpreting guidelines, influencing strategy, and managing author and vendor interactions.

Annualized Salary Range (US)

$150,600.00 - $256,300.00
